Uniondale Community Council Youth Project, in cooperation with Uniondale School District, provides after-school activities for Uniondale's 6th, 7th and 8th graders in both of our middle schools.
The program at Lawrence Road is open from 3:10 PM to 6:30 PM, Monday thru Friday thru the school year.
The program at Turtle Hook is open from 3:10 PM to 6:00 PM
Both programs are closed when school is closed.
This program allows time for some students to participate in school extra-curricular activities ie. sports and learning/homework centers.
Program activities offered are:
a journalistic endeavor - a newsletter - called
"What's Great Here in Uniondale!",
A photography group that does its own work
and provides photos for the newsletter,
Recreational Sports,
Computer projects, games and keyboarding,
An area for groups to build and make things, play board games,
or do their school group projects,
An environmental science group, Art,
A Talk Show and production group discussing
pre-teen & teen issues,
and an area for quiet study or rest.
The day begins with arrival at "The Meeting Place"
where announcements, time for socialization,
and snacks are provided and then
the children go to the various activities.
